Anschluss & Bedienung
Der Einsatz des Sennheiser GSX 1000 ist ohne großes Technikverständnis schnell zu vollziehen. Eigentlich braucht man an den Verstärker nur die entsprechenden Ausgabegeräte anschließen und ihn danach mittels USB mit dem Rechner verbinden (mindestens USB 2.0 oder Audio 1.0). Der GSX 1000 arbeitet ohne Software oder Treiber und kann direkt genutzt werden. Um den Umfang komplett genießen zu können, muss man jedoch ein paar EInstellungen vornehmen, welche in der Anleitung für Windows und Mac ausführlich erklärt werden. Eine Besonderheit gibt es, wenn man als Ausgabe 24 bit / 96 kHz wählt. Dann aktiviert man auf dem Verstärker Stereo 2.0 HD und hat folglich keine Einstellmöglichkeiten mehr. Welche es sonst gibt, wird folgend abgebildet und erklärt.
In der Mitte befindet sich die aktuelle Wiedergabe-Lautstärke. Diese zeigt die Systemlautstärke an, also nimmt man mit dem Rad auch direkten Einfluss auf diese. Da man nur eine 2-Digit Anzeige verwendet, kann man die 100% nicht darstellen. Die 99 steht also für 100% und 99% des Pegels. Eine Stummschaltung ist nur möglich, wenn man den Regler auf unter 0 stellt. Eine zusätzliche Mute-Funktion wäre ein netter Zusatz gewesen.
Oben links über der Lautstärke befindet sich der Kanal-Switch. Durch Berührung kann man schnell zwischen Lautsprechern und Kopfhörer umschalten. Der jeweils aktivierte Ausgang wird durch ein entsprechendes Symbol gekennzeichnet, welche gut differenziert werden können.
Rechts daneben befinden sich die vier Equalizer Einstellungen. Hier sind vier Modi hinterlegt. Wird neben den Balken kein Symbol angezeigt, so ist er deaktiviert. Die drei weiteren Einstellungen sind für eSport, Musik und Film voreingestellt. Eine weitere Möglichkeit zur Frequenzanpassung gibt es nicht. Wie sich die Modi verhalten wird auf der folgenden Seite erklärt.
Weiter geht es zunächst unten links mit dem Headset Symbol. Es handelt sich hierbei um die "Sidetone-Funktion", welche in drei Stufen angepasst werden kann. Ohne weitere Symbole ist die Sidetone Funktion deaktiviert. In der "+" und "++" Einstellung verstellt man dann die Stärke des "Effekts". Der Hersteller empfielt die erste Stufe für offene und on-Ear-Kopfhörer und die zweite für geschlossene Over-Ear sowie In-Ear-Kopfhörer. Die Funktion ist tatsächlich sehr wirksam, wobei die Übertragung der eigenen Stimme nicht sonderlich klar erfolgt. Bei der Ausgabe auf die Lautsprecher, steht diese Funktion natürlich nicht zur Auswahl.
Rechts daneben befindet sich die Klangmodi Einstellung. Gewählt werden kann zwischen 2.0 und 7.1. Natürlich handelt es sich beim 7.1 um eine virtuelle Umsetzung, welche dank Binauraler Rendering Engine jedoch gute Ergebnisse erzielen soll. Zur Auswahl steht die Umsetzung allerdings nur bei Kopfhörern. Lautsprecher werden verständlicherweise nur mit einem Stereo-Signal versorgt.
Die letzten beiden Funktionen stehen nur bei aktivem 7.1 zur Wahl. Links von der Mitte erscheint das Umgebungs-Symbol, welches einen Halleffekt zuschalten kann. Die ersten Sutfe ("+") wird für Semi-offene Spielumgebungen und die zweite ("++") für offene Spielwelten empfohlen. Eine Deaktivierung soll die Klangreproduktion am besten wiederspiegeln.
Rechts von der Mitte kann man den Fokus des Surround Sounds verstellen. Die Pfeile Symbolisieren, aus welcher Richtung der Klang verstärkt werden soll: Von vorne oder hinten. Keine sichtbaren Pfeile bedeutet, dass man eine zentrale Justierung gewählt hat.
Insgesamt sind die Symbole sehr deutlich ablesbar und nach kurzem Einlesen direkt zuordenbar. Schade ist, dass man weder die Dauer der automatischen Dimmfunktion ändern, noch sie gänzlich deaktivieren kann. Üblicherweise verstellt man zwar nicht ständig das Audio-Setup, jedoch sieht der Audfioverstärker bei aktivierter Beleuchtung einfach eine Spur cooler aus.
