Bedienung & Software
Die JBL Quantum TWS besitzen natürlich eine besondere Touch-Steuerung. Die Lautstärke ist zwar leider nicht durch Streichen auf einen der beiden In-Ears regelbar, aber durch langes Drücken auf dem rechten Earbud wird der Apple Siri, Samsung Bixby oder eben Google Sprachassistent aktiviert und ermöglicht eine Sprachsteuerung. Des Weiteren gibt es noch die Möglichkeit durch doppeltes Antippen auf den rechten In-Ear zum nächsten Titel oder durch dreifaches Antippen zum vorigen Titel zu springen. Auf dem linken In-Ear kann man des ANC bzw. Talkthru und das Mikrofon aktivieren oder stummschalten und die Rufannahme vornehmen. In der Praxis gelingt die Bedienung zügig, die Gesten stellen sich als sehr intuitiv dar. Versehentliche Fehlbedienungen hielten sich von Anfang an in Grenzen.
Was den Praxiseinsatz angeht, so sind die JBL In-Ears schnell einsatzbereit. Mit der Konnektivität gab es keinerlei Probleme, die Verbindung mit PC, Mac und PlayStation 5 klappt mit dem beiliegenden USB-Receiver tadellos und schnell. Alternativ ist auch eine Bluetooth-Verbindung mit PC, Mac oder Mobilgeräten möglich. Ich konnte mich im Test problemlos 10 Meter oder gar etwas weiter vom Dongle entfernen (auf PS5 und PC), ohne dass es spürbare Störungen oder Schwankungen der Verbindungsqualität gab – und das, obwohl da teils Türen und mehrere Wände dazwischenlagen. Das ist alles andere als selbstverständlich und gefällt mir gut. Für den PC muss die "JBL QuantumENGINE" Begleit-Software heruntergeladen und installiert werden, um den vollen Funktionsumfang nutzen zu können.
Zum Betrieb der Quantum TWS ist die Software zwar nicht zwingend notwendig. Wer aber, wie zuvor besprochen, alle Features nutzen will, der wird nicht um diese Software herumkommen. Sie ist sehr einfach, aber intuitiv aufgebaut und macht an sich genau das, was sie soll. Schade ist etwas, dass die Software sich nicht im Vollbildmodus nutzen lässt. Darunter leidet die bequeme Ablesbarkeit, gerade auf kleinen Notebooks. In der Software kann man unter anderem Firmware-Updates installieren, unterschiedliche Audio-Profile erstellen, Equalizer-Einstellungen vornehmen, die Surround-Sound-Modi justieren oder auch die Quelle einstellen. Auf der ersten Seite befindet sich der Equalizer. Hier können die Frequenzen anhand vordefinierter Profile geändert werden.
Es ist auch möglich, eigene Einstellungen zu tätigen und abzuspeichern. Die Profile werden nicht im Headset, sondern lokal gespeichert. Der Inhalt des oberen sowie des linken Bereiches ist in allen Menüpunkten identisch. Außerdem kann das Mikrofon ein- oder ausgeschaltet werden bzw. der Akkustand eingesehen sowie der Raumsound aktiviert werden. Zudem sieht man hier, in welchem Betriebsmodus sich das Headset befindet oder ob die Geräuschunterdrückung (ANC). Bluetooth oder TT (Talkthru) aktiv sind.
Auch funktioniert der QuantumSurround Raumklang mit einigen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten über die QuantumEngine Software. Selbst der Kopfdurchmesser kann für ein optimales Raumklangerlebnis justiert werden.
Im nächsten relevanten Punkt dreht sich alles um das Mikrofon. Hier können die Pegel und die Lautstärke einstellt werden. Zudem kann hier der Nebenton aktiviert werden, so hört der Nutzer sehr praktisch, dass was er ins Mikrofon spricht.
Zum Suchen der verlegten kabellosen Kopfhörer kann über die Software ein Sound wiedergegeben werden, um diese zu finden.
Die weiteren Menüpunkte dienen der Aktualisierung der Software als auch der Firmware von Headset und Funk-Dongle. Unter Hilfe kann der Nutzer einen Einblick in die einzelnen Funktionen bekommen. Der Inhalt entspricht der Kurzanleitung – hier dann aber auch in deutscher Sprache.
