I have recently upgraded my Lenovo laptop with a new SSD and I am trying to install Windows 7 on it. I have faced a few issues during the installation process and I need help.

I have installed the new SSD in the laptop. Used a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 installation files. The installation begins but fails midway with an error message.

I am getting error is: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
I have tried reformatting the SSD and even using different installation media; but I keep running into the same issue.


Does anyone have any advice on how to successfully install Windows 7 on a new SSD in a Lenovo laptop? I have checked www.hardware-journal.de/forum/software-und-betriebssysteme documentation guide but still need help .


Are there specific BIOS settings I should be aware of or any particular steps I might be missing?

The error you're encountering, "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style," is related to the system's boot mode. This typically happens because Windows 7 installation does not support GPT partitioning when the system is set to boot in UEFI mode.

Have you thought about upgrading your OS? Windows 7 is pretty low on updates. You can easily do better informational approaches when upgrading updates.
